06/11/04 Green Laning
30/10/04

Premier
Dukeries CC Paul Rees (WRGB Marshals Liason) specifically asked if I would help out at his home event (seems I’m getting a bit of a reputation!) Posted at a major spectator location, with group of BMRC marshals, the radio was busy with our reports of stranded cars – I even got to use the PA to inform the spectators of stoppages and restarts.

Green Laning
More muddy adventures, this time with the brother-in-law and a couple of nephews to add to the entertainment.

16/18/09/04

Wales Rally GB
Overall: Very enjoyable. No spectator problems, sociable marshals, good sector marshals, efficient signing-on. Weather was a bit wet on occasions, but otherwise not too bad. Super special was disappointing, but as we got in for free, I suppose it wasn't too bad. Service area was more interesting (again free to marshals)...

Woodpecker Stages Rally
Congratulations to Bernie & Garth on finishing Woodpecker debuting the Lotus Elise. It's been a few years since this Midlands duo were out in anger, but Bernie reported favourably of the Lotus's setup.

Green Laning
Ever since having a 4x4 I've wanted to do this, but never found out how, until I discovered my4x4.co.uk. A days green Laning around mid Wales for £20 and half a tank of diesel

Hill Rally
There can’t be a better sound than a number of V8 Landrovers thrashing through the Rhadnor Forest complex

17/07/04

Swansea Bay National
Resolfen J24
Heavy rain overnight had left the 15 mile stage very muddy in places, but during the day a "dry" line appeared. Very entertaining corner, a down-hill hairpin left, littered with log piles (which a number of cars hit).

A good days entertainment and good use of rally safety radio - possibly my favourite outing this year, only marred by a puncture on the way home.

Mid Wales Rally
Hafren forest, SS3, J3
Boring corner this time, but made up for with the company of a number of Media crews (who are also www.britishrally.co.uk forum members. On the route out of the stage, came across a Streetly Motor Club 205 Challenge crew (see picture) - only their pride was hurt.

Dukeries
Two stages in the Portland forest complex. Was joined for the day by Dan, the son of one of the organiser. Although not yet old enough to drive, he new his rally stuff and was good company.

11-13/06/04 Rally of the Midlands

First time as Chief Marshal - what a weekend that turned out to be. Very exhausting but extremely rewarding.

Mutiny
SS3, Post 9, Halfway forest.
Located at an uphill hairpin right, only one car had any real difficulty - the Historic Mini broke a driveshaft on the exit.

Int. Rally of Wales
Chrychan & Epynt
I've not been to the Epynt Ranges before, so I was looking forward to this event.

Guinness World Record attempt - Landrover convoy
Having found a posting on an internet 4x4 discussion forum asking for volunteer marshals, Lawrence had to volunteer. The requirement of the marshal in this instance should have a vehicle capable of towing a Landrover, a suitable towrope and an amber flashing beacon. No problem.

20-21/03/04 Pirelli British Rally Championship Live

Saturday saw a few Streetly Motor Club members assist in setting up the special stage, in horrendous windy conditions. We returned on the Sunday to marshal/radio the final sector of the stage. We were pleased to see committed driving throughout the day.

Cannock & District Car Club Single Venue
Once again, members of Streetly Motor Club help out another local club with their event. Lawrence, with the two Dans from GID, manned a radio point on the special stage. With this being the 1st round of the 205 championship, we were very busy all day, rebuilding chicanes.

28/02/04

Sunseeker (Bournemouth)
Lawrence joined up with Sunseeker regulars GID to give their marshalling team access to rally radio for the three, very cold, stages in the Somerley complex.

21-22/02/04 International Historic Motor Show (Stoneleigh Showground)

Lawrence had volunteered to assist with rally radio on the shows 8 special rally stages. The tight and twisty tarmac tracks were probably not ideal for a competitive rally stage, but the idea here was to show off the historic rally cars to the public - which it did rather well.

"Streetly One" is just about visible in the top-left corner of this picture that appeared in Motorsports News, February 25, 2004 page 13

14/02/04

Wyedean Forest Rally (Forest of Dean)
Lawrence met up with Duncan and Sarah-Jane to give a bit of an introduction to Rally Radio. Whilst our allotted corner was not particularly entertaining, it did give us an opportunity to discuss rally radio operating procedures.
